Digestive Problems
There's something about digestive difficulties that makes them hard to discuss in polite company—which leaves many of us suffering one problem or another in silence. Yet fixes can be as simple as disciplined life style. The main culprits for digestive problems can easily explained in lay man language as
1) Hurry, 2) Worry, and 3) Curry.
1) Hurry-Hurried lifestyle where we resort to skip meals, take abundant of fast foods and preserved foods can adversely affect our digestive system.
2) Worry-worries which are long standing such as business/job stress increases the acid secretion in the stomach leading to acidity.
3)Curry-taking lot of spicy food, alcohol and preservatives can have very bad influence to your digestive system causing lot of gastrointestinal problems. Here's a rundown of some common gastrointestistinal problems which we have come across in our clinical practise.

The most common condition that we come across our clinical practice is Reflux disorder.Symptoms of reflux, such as heartburn, are among the most common digestive ills. Such frequent symptoms may indicate a person has GORD or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. Aside from being painful, GORD can harm the oesophagus over time or even lead to oesophageal cancer. Heartburn typically involves a hot or burning feeling rising up from the centre of the abdomen area and into the chest under the breastbone or sternum. It may be accompanied by a sour taste in the mouth, hyper salivation, or even finding food or fluid in your mouth with regurgitation irrespective of time even at night. some medications like antibiotics, pain killers , and consuming alcohol or certain foods can cause heartburn. Kids under age 12 and some adults may have GERD without heartburn, instead experiencing asthma like symptoms, trouble swallowing, or a dry cough.

Another common disorder includes ulcer which have symptoms like unexplained stomach pain. Please don’t take any painkiller if you have ulcer. The worst thing to do for an ulcers suspected patient to do is to take aspirin or other NSAID [non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug] pain killers. They worsen it and don't help.
The main causes of ulcer are Helicobacter pylori which by disrupting a protective layer of mucus, that bacterium causes ulcers, which are sores in the lining of the stomach or first stretch of the small intestine. Other causes include smoking, alcohol, and spicy foods which can elevate stomach acidity and cause ulcer. Stress can aggravate symptoms of ulcers and delay its healing. When left untreated, ulcers can cause internal bleeding and may eat a hole in the small intestine or stomach wall, which can lead to serious infection. Ulcer scar tissue can also block the digestive tract. And long-term H. pylori infection has been linked to an increased risk of gastric cancer.

Icteres or Jaundice is another common digestive problem. Jaundice is yellowish discoloration of skin and mucous membrane due to altered liver function resulting elevated levels of serum bilirubin. This can be due to alcohol, hepatitis, drug induced etc.
